2020/2021 Legislative Budget Update
Governor Brian Kemp recently announced his State Budget requirements for state agencies to submit their budget requests to the Governor’s Office of Planning Budget. He has requested that each state agency submit 4% Budget Reductions for the current 2020 Fiscal Year and 6% Budget Reductions for the 2021 Fiscal Year. Several agencies and areas were exempt, including Medicaid service dollars. To clarify, there have been NO MEDICAID SERVICE DOLLARS CUTS proposed.
The agencies below have proposed the following recommended reductions to the Office of Planning and Budget to meet the Governor’s request.
Department of Community Health:
The Department of Community Health proposed taking all of their 4% 2020 Fiscal Year reductions in Administration totaling $4,189,820
and all of their 6% 2021 Fiscal Year reductions in Administration as well totaling $6,284,730. These are all state dollars.
Department of Human Services:
The Department of Human Services has proposed taking their 2020 Fiscal Year 4% reduction in HCBS totaling $786,799 and in the Meals program totaling $373,546.
Their 2021 Fiscal Year 6% reduction in HCBS totaling $1,142,699 and in the Meals program totaling $714,739. These are all state dollars.
Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities:
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities has proposed taking their reductions in the Marcus Autism Center for 2020 and 2021 totaling $1,087,686, Adult DD Family Support Services totaling $1,000,000 and Adult DD Assistive Technology totaling $1,000,000. These are all state dollars.
Your ALAG Legislative Committee will be following the Budget throughout the entire process, and we will not know officially what will be in the Governor’s Budget until early January 2020 once the Legislative Session has started.
